I've started to dive in the world of aluminum production and the first thing I notice is that the United States production has been dropping since the late 90's. The main drops in production in 2000 and 2009 is due to lower prices for aluminum which means the producers cut back to increase the market prices. I've included Canadian data as well since I find it curious that their production has been stable and slightly increasing over the same time period.
I'm sure more will reveal itself as I dive into this industry. I hope to get more of a global view on this as I dig through the data available online.
*Note: 2013 is a estimate based only off January's production numbers.

Overall revenues for Tesla soared to over 300 million in the fourth quarter. They ended the quarter with a record for the company 23.8 million in gross profit. With margins expected to increase in the first quarter of 2013. Tesla is moving in the right direction for profitability. Their net loss however was 90 million, mainly from operating expenses. With over 68 million of that from research and development. Which Tesla claims had a lot of one time costs. Overall they need to make up 90 million in revenue to become profitable. The first quarter should be interesting.
